Wonderful Day in Liverpool

We started the day with breakfast in the hotel.  When we entered the dining room the hostess asked our names.  When she heard "Robert Crosby", she came to life and said she had a brother-in-law by that name and he looked something like me.  She went on to tell me that "Crosby" is a very common name in Liverpool. I was surprised to learn how many Irish live in Liverpool. All the taxi divers seem to be Irish and they are all enjoyable and friendly characters.

After breakfast we took a taxi to the Walker Gallery and spent two hours looking at beautiful things. I am posting a couple images of the Gallery and the surrounding area.

On the way back to the hotel we stopped by Chinatown.

We took a taxi back to the hotel and took a walk around the docks adjacent to the hotel. Here are some images of the area.

I was reminded that Liverpool is the home of the Beatles and the place where the Titanic was constructed and from which it sailed.

We had an incredible dinner at a place on the docks called Gusto. Without exaggeration I would say that is one of the best meals I had at an Italian restaurant.  After dinner we all took a long nap to prepare for the evening.

At 6:30pm we took a  taxi to Philharmonic Hall to attend a Festival of Irish music.  It was great fun.  I really enjoyed the enthusiasm of the mostly Irish audience.  We took a taxi back to the hotel and after a "Larger 'n Lime" in the bar, we retired for the night.  We are off to Chester in the morning.
