The main attraction in Chester is the Cathedral which is a former Benedictine Monastery, suppressed during the English Reformation. Below are several pictures of the Cathedral with some comments.
This is a picture the monastic refectory or dining room. It is now a public restaurant used by the many visitors to the Cathedral.
Behind the series of columns is a stairway leading the place from which a monk would read aloud while the community ate in silence.
We could not see much the church because it was being used for a special service, so we went out into one of the cloister gardens. There we came across a wonderful sculpture of Chirst and the Samaritan woman at the well.
We left the Cathedral walking through the gate out into the town
We returned to the hotel to rest for the afternoon. We had a lovely supper in the hotel and the went out for walk in the town before heading to bed.
