We had an early breakfast and then took a cab to the train station in the neighboring town. The picture below shows the ticket office at the station with a sign in both English and Welsh.
The train ride to Liverpool took about 1.5 hours. When we arrived a taxi took us to our hotel, The Jury's Inn. These two pictures show the view from my room. You will see the area known as the docks, an area of renovated old buildings .
After a short rest we had lunch in the hotel and the went to see the Aglican Cathedral. It is the 5th largest cathedral in Europe. I will show a number pictures, some with comment. I did not find the cathedral to be a very warm space. It was large and impressive, but without much feeling.
What impressed me most was this memorial to those lost their life in WW1. It houses a book that contains the names of the 40,000 men and women from Liverpool who died in battle. It was very moving. The next pictures shows the book.
After our vist to the Anglican Cathedral, we paid a visit to the Catholic Cathedral. This cathedral is the direct opposite of the Anglican Cathedral in terms of style, as you can see from the pictures below.
While there were several interesting elements in this cathedral, it is not a space I would care use for worship. There was a book in this cathedral as well but it contained the names of those who had donated to the building of it. See if you can find two interesting names in the picture .
We were quite exhausted after touring these two churches so we went back to the hotel for rest. We met for dinner in the hotel and then went to our rooms for the night.
